World Earth Day
The Earth Day, also known as the International Mother Earth Day, was first celebrated on April 22, 1970. World Earth Day is a reminder for the mankind to protect and safeguard the mother earth and its species, to make Earth a better place for the coming generations. Countries across the globe come together to create more awareness about the prime need to protect our
environment. The day focuses on global climate crisis that is worsening day by day.
The Earth Day was founded by a Senator, Gaylord Nelson of the United States. The theme of Earth Day 2022 is to ‘Invest in our planet’. In 2021, the theme was to ‘Restore our Earth’ and in 2020, the theme was ‘Climate action’. The World Earth Day’s celebration on April 2022 is important because it is spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere around this time.
“We must assert our ownership of the natural resources around us . The people of Uttarakhand must be passionate about protecting the environment. To protect the earth, we will have to choose our development path wisely.”
